BTN- Coral Bleaching

This video was about Coral Bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef could be lost forever if we don’t take care of it properly.

Lot’s of coral in The Great Barrier Reef is turning white. This is known as Coral Bleaching.

The Great Barrier Reef is known as a natural wonder of the world.

When you look at coral you actually look at its skeleton. If you look closer you see tiny bumps. Inside the tiny bumps there is stuff that is called polyps.

Polyps spend most of their time popping out of their little hiding places and eat any food that passes by. Then they convert that food into more of the corals skeleton. There are not just polyps in the holes, there is also Algae. The Algae feeds the coral by converting the sunlight into energy that the coral can use. While doing that the Algae gives the coral its amazing colour.

Can we stop Coral Bleaching? How?

How bad is Coral Bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef now? Is it better or worse?

This is a true tragedy of human carelessness. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most amazing natural wonders of our world and should be taken better care of. Our government can make laws that will slow down this process, but the whole world really needs to take stronger action on global warming if we are to stop the whole reef from dying in our lifetimes….If you get a chance to visit it please jump at it- it is something you will never forget.
    Great work!
